On May 22, a six-member delegation led by Jianhua Sun, President of the Council of the Zhang Jian Research Center and former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Nantong Municipal People's Congress, visited the Key Laboratory of Intelligent Development and Service of Archives for an exchange. Ping Wang, Vice Dean of the School of Information Management of Wuhan University and Director of the Lab, and Pan Zhang, Head of the Industry-University-Research Cooperation Department of the Key Laboratory of Intelligent Development and Service of Archives and others attended the symposium.

At the meeting, Ping Wang gave a brief introduction to the overall development of the Lab and the progress of its external cooperation, and Pan Zhang gave a live demonstration of the Ming and Qing Archives Digitization Processing and Utilization Platform. Focusing on the digital and intelligent development of the historical archives of the Dasheng Group as the core topic, the two sides held in-depth discussions on key issues, including customized OCR recognition strategies for handwritten texts in traditional characters with vertical layout and for complex page layouts, the path from image archiving to a searchable, computable and structured knowledge system, solutions for semantic annotation of classical Chinese and knowledge graph construction, and a collaborative mechanism for building thematic databases and bringing the Zhang Jian archival resources to life while ensuring data security.

Jianhua Sun spoke highly of the Lab's systematic exploration in the intelligent processing of ancient books and documents and in archival knowledge services. He pointed out that, after more than forty years of dedicated work, the Zhang Jian Research Center has achieved fruitful results in the discovery and collation of historical materials. However, current research urgently needs to shift from traditional text collation to quantitative, computable and data-driven research, which requires joint efforts with interdisciplinary technical expertise. He expressed the hope that, taking this exchange as an opportunity and drawing on the Lab's technical strengths in intelligent archival recognition and knowledge services, the two sides will jointly promote the in-depth digitization and active use of the Zhang Jian archival resources and support the high-quality development of Zhang Jian studies.
