Spring blossoms bring autumn harvests, and the years flow like a song. September 2024 will mark forty years since the archival science discipline at Wuhan University resumed student enrollment.
Through forty years of wind and rain, we have rowed forward with determination, passing on the torch. Carrying forward the legacy of the Archives Management Department of the Boone Library School, the archival science discipline at Wuhan University was re-established in 1982 and officially began enrolling undergraduates in 1984. Over the years, the discipline has responded to major national strategic needs and, building on the School's multidisciplinary development platform, has created a first-class talent cultivation system that is well structured, solid and innovative, forming a distinctive educational style that combines the humanities and sciences and integrates multiple disciplines.
Over forty years of teaching, we have nurtured generations of talent. As a major center of archival science teaching and research in China, the archival science discipline at Wuhan University keeps pace with digital and intelligent trends and is committed to cultivating innovative, interdisciplinary and application-oriented high-level professionals. Our archival science students have always kept in mind their original mission of "managing archives for the Party, safeguarding history for the nation, and serving the people," striving with determination and taking responsibility in all walks of life, making substantial contributions to the development of archival and related undertakings in China.
Forty years in their prime, we forge ahead to write a new chapter. Facing a new era, the archival science discipline at Wuhan University is renewing itself with high spirits and striding forward. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the re-establishment of the discipline, we plan to hold, in late November 2024, the Conference on the 40th Anniversary of the Re-establishment of the Archival Science Discipline at Wuhan University and Its Innovative Development. We sincerely invite alumni at home and abroad, partner institutions and guests from all sectors of society to gather at Luojia Hill to join this grand event, plan for future development, and write a new chapter together!
Alumni are welcome to support the development of their alma mater and School by providing suitable funding of various kinds or designated donations.
We welcome memorabilia and archival materials from every stage since the founding of the archival science discipline (old photographs, study materials, certificates, related documents, etc.).
We welcome inscriptions, messages, calligraphy and paintings, commemorative articles, greeting videos, etc. These will be published on the official celebration WeChat account and permanently preserved in the dedicated collections of the School and the University.
We hereby make this announcement for your kind attention.
