Recently, the National Archives Administration of China issued an official announcement that the 3 "Key Laboratory of Intelligent Development and Service of Archives," led by our School and jointly established with institutions including the Hubei Provincial Archives, the Wuhan Institute of Data Intelligence and Wenhua Zhidian (Wuhan) Technology Co., Ltd., has been selected as one of the first National Archives Administration of China key laboratories.

2023-1 In January, the National Archives Administration of China launched the application process for its first batch of key laboratories and issued the "Measures for the Administration of Key Laboratories of the National Archives Administration of China (Trial)." With the goals of fostering scientific and technological innovation capacity in archives and supporting the high-quality development of archival work, the initiative focuses on frontier issues in the discipline and on major, key and common scientific and technological problems related to the development of archival work. It aims to establish a number of high-level key laboratories, effectively integrate resources for archival science and technology innovation, and comprehensively enhance archival innovation capabilities.

Drawing on the strong disciplinary foundation and research strength of Information Resources Management, a first-level national key discipline and a world-class discipline under construction, and of Archival Science, a national first-class undergraduate program, as well as on its excellent conditions in talent, industry-university-research collaboration and international exchange, and on the archival information resources, data intelligence technologies and application scenarios for research commercialization provided by the partner institutions, our School actively organized the application for the "Key Laboratory of Intelligent Development and Service of Archives." The laboratory's construction achievements and distinctive strengths were highly recognized by the review experts.

In line with the national informatization development strategy, the Key Laboratory of Intelligent Development and Service of Archives will focus on the intelligent development and service of archival information resources within the framework of modernizing national governance capacity. It will conduct research on the theory and methods of the smart development of archival work, the organization and development of smart archival data resources, the application of new technologies and smart services in archives, archival data security governance and the building of a trustworthy ecosystem, and archival public services and the commercialization of research results. In doing so, it will provide high-level professional archival theory, high-quality archival research achievements, highly qualified archival technology professionals, a high-level platform for archival exchange, and forward-looking archival think-tank services to address major scientific and technological challenges in archival work.

It is reported that this round of applications for National Archives Administration of China key laboratories mainly targeted the fields of applicability verification of new archival management technologies and products, archival preservation, digital archival resource management, and archival information development. Nationwide, a total of 8 laboratories were recognized as the first batch of National Archives Administration of China key laboratories.
