Wei Lu, Honorary Director

Ph.D., Grade II Professor, Member of the Party Committee and its Standing Committee, and Vice President of Wuhan University, Executive Vice Dean of the National School of Confidentiality at Wuhan University, Deputy Director of the Hubei National Center for Applied Mathematics, Director of the Institute of Information Retrieval and Knowledge Mining, recipient of the Ministry of Education New Century Excellent Talents program, and Young Scholar of the first cohort and Distinguished Professor of a national talent program. His research interests include information retrieval, data intelligence, AI governance, human-machine collaboration and innovation evaluation. He has published more than 200 papers, including more than 80 SSCI/SCI/EI papers in CCF A venues such as AAAI, CCS and SIGIR and in top journals of the field such as JASIST, IP&M and JOI.

He has led more than ten major and key projects, including a National 2030 "New Generation Artificial Intelligence" Major Project, a Major Project of the National Social Science Fund, a Key Project of the National Natural Science Foundation, a project of the National Key R&D Program and other major and key projects, as well as more than 50 other vertical and horizontal projects at the national, provincial and ministerial levels, funded by the National Social Science Fund, the National Natural Science Foundation and others. He has applied for more than 20 national standards, invention patents and software copyrights, and has developed the question-answering robot RobertAI, the intelligent academic information processing platform ScienceAI, the online public opinion big data system WHU-POMS and other systems, providing support to dozens of research institutes, enterprises and public institutions, such as Huawei, Alibaba, Baidu, Taikang, the National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China and the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China. His awards include the Ministry of Education Outstanding Achievement Award for Humanities and Social Sciences Research in Higher Education Institutions, the Hubei Provincial Outstanding Social Science Achievement Award, the Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Information Achievement Award and the Hubei Provincial Natural Science Outstanding Paper Award.

He also serves as a member of the Ministry of Education Teaching Steering Committee for Management Science and Engineering, a member of its Sub-Committee for Confidentiality Management, a member of the Philosophy and Social Sciences Expert Group of the National Textbook Committee, Vice President of the China Society of Indexers, Vice President of the China Association for Information Systems (CNAIS), Executive Council Member of the Chinese Society for Scientific and Technical Information, Vice President of the Hubei Society of Information Science, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of "Library and Information Service", Deputy Director of the Editorial Board of "Technology Intelligence Engineering", editorial board member of journals such as "Journal of the China Society for Scientific and Technical Information", and Chair of the Degree Evaluation Committee of the university's Faculty of Social Sciences.
