2024 is a pivotal year for achieving the goals and tasks of the 14th Five-Year Plan for archival work. Upholding fundamental principles while innovating, and improving quality and efficiency, are key directions for the high-quality development of archival work. Against the backdrop of the rapid development of new-generation information technology and data as a factor of production, archival work continually faces new challenges and opportunities in digital and intelligent transformation. How to forge an innovative path of inheritance, integration and empowerment for archival work, and better serve the advancement of Chinese modernization, is a question of our times that young archival scholars must proactively consider and actively address. 2024 also marks the 40th anniversary of the re-establishment of the archival science discipline at Wuhan University.
